Yesterday,
I was asked
byAt
Home Magazine
in the UK
to comment
on recent
quotes from
ubermodel
Gisele Bundshen
in regards
to breastfeeding.
It seems
the super
fabulous
and brilliant
Victoria
Secret angel
is also
a spokeswoman
for ALL
women, dontcha
know, and
she figures
breastfeeding
should become
a LAW.
Her
comments
are in a
Harpers
Bazaar Magazine
article,
and she
says,
"I
think breastfeeding
really helped
(me keep
my figure).
Some people
here (in
the US)
think they
don't have
to breastfeed,
and I think
'Are you
going to
give chemical
food to
your child
when they
are so little?'
I think
there should
be a worldwide
law, in
my opinion,
that mothers
should breastfeed
their babies
for six
months."
OK,
first of all, forcing women to breastfeed
is the dumbest thing that came out
of her mouth since Tom Brady's dick.
Second,
not all women CAN breastfeed. And
if they are physically unable to
breastfeed would that mean they
would be sent to jail under Gisele's
proposed law?
Breastfeeding
isn't always as glamourous as the
granola-crunching moms would have
us believe. Mastitis
(yah, betcha never had THAT did
you, Gisele) is a bitch. You get
a fever, your boobs swell and turn
to stone, you get aches, chills,
your boobs feel hot and you just
feel like shit.
Let's
talk about all the other pitfalls
of nursing, shall we?
Engorgement,
bleeding and nipple cracking, Candidiasis
...
There
are a lot of positives to breastfeeding,
too, I am NOT taking that away from
women who do it. I did it with my
son for three months but chose not
to breastfeed my daughter. It's
a bond that only a mother and child
can share. It is a tender moment
and there is nothing like it. Breast
milk is proven to be the best choice
for your child UNLESS the mother
is not taking PERFECT care of herself
ie: diet, no medications, no smoking,
no drinking, no chemicals whatsoever
in your system. Considering you've
done this (theorectically) for the
past nine months, what's another
6 months AT LEAST? Hmm?
Yes,
being a mother takes a HUGE amount
of sacrifice, I get that. But Gisele's
idea of making it the "law"
further proves to me that she should
just pose pretty for the pictures
and be quiet.
Someone
on the At Home Magazine website
commented that I was making statements
that were all about "ME"
and not was what's best for the
baby. My
polite response was: You
make no sense whatsoever and you
are being completely altruistic.
Breastfeeding has become a fad in
the last 10 years and if you're
"not on the bandwagon"
you're obviously a terrible and
selfish mother. I disagree. It comes
down to one super dumbass model
forcing her opnions down the throats
of readers because, you know, she
speaks for all women. This is NOT
the 1950s and women (men?) like
you set women's lib back 60 years.
Why not take away a women's right
to vote? Or just go back to baking
cookies and gossip with the other
hens who like to judge. Just sayin...
Now
that I'm on my own blog I can say
it like I meant: Fuck YAH it's all
about me. My tits, my decision.
Don't judge what I do. It's only
a reflection of your own insecurities
and issues. Meditate on THAT.

After
seeing how stupid she came across,
she apologized. Click here for the
